Tayshaun Prince trade proposal

Tayshaun Prince trade proposal

Postby discovery69 on Tue Aug 11, 2009 2:59 am

Rumors were that Portland's GM, Kevin Pritchard inquired about trading for Tayshaun Prince, but the asking price included Nicolas Batum whom the blazers are still high on and said no thanks.

Now comes the other leg to the rumor is that Detroit is looking to make some noise in the 2010 free agency, but that would probably mean trading someone like Tayshaun Prince for some ending contracts where Detroit would still have Bird rights to these players if they wanted to re-sign Outlaw & Przybilla after they acquired a free agent like Chris Bosh or Amare Stoudemire.

Would Piston fans be willing to trade Tayshaun Prince for Travis Outlaw, Joel Przybilla and Jerryd Bayless?

Wow. I hadn't heard any of this from the Detroit end, though, there are a lot of proposals that don't make it to the press.

Who did the Pistons want in addition to Batum for Prince?

Regarding the 2010 free agent class, it's being said by Detroit insiders that Dumars doesn't plan on being a player. Since he spent all his available cap space this offseason, he'll have the MLE next year, which he'll use to land another player that way, but not go after Bosh, Wade, LeBron, etc.

Are you speculating on whether Piston fans would want to trade Prince for 3 players or any of the 3 players named above? Personally, I feel that Prince satisfies a role on the Pistons that none of the 3 either collectively or individually would fill.

Interesting speculation.

Actually, this was an Blazer insider rumor and it's been mentioned about both Kevin Pritchard and Nate McMillan think very highly of Tayshaun Prince's game. Nicolas Batum has been mentioned as a young version of Prince.

Cool.

If the Blazers would offer Batum for Prince, I take it they consider Batum to not be developed enough for immediate use in a playoff run against the Lakers and Spurs this year. Prince would be a solid asset, a near All Star point forward who defends, rebounds, and can score in bunches by driving to the hoop and is a good spot up shooter with 3 point range.

We'd have to see how the season goes for both sides since Prince is considered a team leader and an integral player. Batum would have to be special to make Dumars part with Prince.

Does your source know if Portland is offering anything else in addition to Batum?
