A. Sherrod Blakely on WGHN: Louisville's Earl Clark is best of the bunch

Despite an alleged guarantee the Pistons promised B.J. Mullens, Pistons Insider A. Sherrod Blakely says Detroit might be better off looking at another forward in the upcoming draft.

"I look at (Louisville forward) Earl Clark and of all those guys in that range, he's the one guy that I think can help them the most," Blakely told Ryan Terpstra on WGHN-AM Grand Haven. "I think talent-wise, he's really one of the best players in the draft."

Blakely said multiple sources reporting Detroit's guaranteed selection of Mullens with its No. 15 overall pick are false and were "put out there."

"The thing that I look at about these so-called promises is that I have to look at the player involved and why would a team guarantee that particular player," Blakely said. "With Stuckey, a couple years ago, they knew they had to find someone to eventually replace Chauncey Billups and to make a promise to him at No. 15 kind of made sense. With B.J. Mullens - no."

Listen to the entire interview as Blakely previews a few of the NBA Draft's highly touted prospects, including DeJuan Blair, Austin Daye and Tyler Hansbrough.

A. Sherrod does his usual stellar job of providing info on Dumars' likely free agent signings and trades along with dispelling disinformation like the "draft promise" to Mullens.

The conversation that got blown up as a trade proposal by Boston to give Rondo and Allen for Stuckey, Prince, and Hamilton was sheer lunacy.

I wish people would report fact rather than fiction.
