Posted: Nov. 13, 2009 Pistons guard Will Bynum's dunks get ESPN's attention BY VINCE ELLIS
Add prophet to the list of many words to describe Ben Gordon.
After the Pistons' surprisingly easy 98-75 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday night, someone asked him about the two highlight-reel dunks of diminutive point guard Will Bynum.
"Will is one of those guys that's like a freak of nature," said Gordon, who scored 22 points. "When he gets a lane to the basket, he's liable to end up on 'SportsCenter.' "
That was the case as both dunks made the ESPN show's nightly top 10 list of plays. In the second quarter, Bynum drove past a defender and dunked on 7-footer Tyson Chandler. Then later in the game, Bynum blocked a shot, kept running down court and took the outlet pass to streak in for the breakaway one-handed slam.
In both instances, the players on the Pistons' bench leaped from their seats.
The night is indicative of the good vibe that has permeated the Pistons since training camp began in late September.
And by the way, Bynum's dunks came in at No. 2 and No. 4 in top plays. Jason Maxiell's block of Bobcats rookie Gerald Henderson's dunk attempt was No. 7.
