Who Should the Pistons Draft?

Who Should the Pistons Draft?

Right now it looks like the pistons may obtain a top 5 lottery pick. Here are some of the prospects.

PGJohn Wall; NBA Comparison: Dwayne Wade/Derrick Rose/Rajon Rondo
Image
(Will be too good to pass up at the one. Superstar Potential)

SG
Evan Turner; NBA Comparrison: Brandon Roy
Image
(Like Wall, Turner may be too good to pass up, but Detroit may pass up Turner for a big man if they land the 2 pick. Turner can rebound with the best of them and hes not a big man.) Turner may end up being the best player out of the draft.

C
DeMarcus Cousins; NBA Comparison: Derrick Coleman/Elton Brand
Image
(According to ESPN, Cousins would be a sure-fire 20-10 guy)

PF/CDerrick Favors; NBA Comparison: Al Horford (More Athletic)
Image
(Its up for grabs between Favors or Cousins if both are on the board. Favors is the more athletic of the two but less NBA-ready. Has been compared to a more defensive oriented Amare Staudimire and a more athletic version of Al Horford)

C
Hashaan Whiteside; NBA Comparison: Marcus Camby/ Tyson Chandler
Image
(Whiteside bleeds potential and has some range. Big athletic guy and great shot blocker. I like him as much as cousins and Favors and believe he will be a sleeper. Although he is compared to Camby, he is more capable offensively and more athletic.)

SF/PFAl-Foroq-Aminu; NBA Comparison: Marvin Williams
Image
(Think Marvin Williams or Loul Deng. Aminu could be around the 6 or 7 pick.)

SFWesley Johnson; NBA Comparison: Eddie Johnson/Shawn Marion
Image
(Great all-around player and very athletic. Also a very good shooter)

Great breakdown.

Unfortunately, with the Pistons' respectable finish to the season, their chances of getting a top 3 pick were reduced. And they lost the tie breaker with Philly, meaning they will pick any where from 7-10 if they don't get a top 3 pick.

The only silver lining is that the Greg Monroe from Georgetown and all the top lottery picks have declared for the draft to make it deep. So the Pistons should be able to get a player who can help.

John Wall would be great, but I'd like to see them get a big man who can either score in the low post or be a defensive presence in the low blocks along with Ben Wallace.

Looking forward to seeing how things unfold.

Yes. Its looking more and more like Detroit will be drafting in the ranges of Greg Monroe, Ed Davis, Hashaan Whiteside, and Cole Aldrich. Greg Monroe would be the most skilled big man left (also the most skilled big man in the draft) while Whiteside and Davis could make an impact on the defensive end immediately. Favors and Cousins are out of Detroit's range unless they hit a jackpot.

Keeping my fingers crossed that the Pistons hit the jackpot a la the Bulls in 2008.
