2009 NBA Summer League Summer Repeats

Day 2
Name: Adam Morrison
Team: L.A. Lakers
Last seen in the summer:Charlotte’s No. 3 pick in 2006 suited up that summer in Orlando. An ACL injury kept him out the next two summers.

Reason for Return: Going into the last year of his rookie deal, the Lakers need to find out if Morrison is a keeper. The small forward quickly became an afterthought after being shipped to L.A. during last season, and spent the postseason title run in street clothes. Morrison is using this summer to better learn the triangle offense and prove he belongs in the league. He’s off to a promising start, averaging 23 points, 4.5 rebounds and 32.5 minutes in the first two games.

Name: Acie Law IV
Team: Golden State
Last seen in Vegas: Law was back as a second-year vet with the Hawks last summer. The former 2007 lottery pick out of Texas A&M was trying to improve on a sub-par rookie season and establish himself as Atlanta’s point guard of the future. Law actually regressed as a sophomore, playing less even less behind Mike Bibby. Law became expendable and was eventually included in the trade that sent Jamal Crawford to Atlanta.

Reason for Return: Now with the Warriors, Law is trying to find a home on a team with four point guards, including No. 7 pick Stephen Curry. The odds may be stacked against him against the left-hander with an off knuckleball jumper. The Warriors could have a decision to make with Law come training camp if he doesn’t overwhelm during Summer League. The front office is high on third-string point C.J. Watson, who is a restricted free agent. Assuming Watson’s return, Law could be traded again or possibly cut.
