Shock's Katie Smith makes WNBA All-Star team

Detroit Shock guard Katie Smith has been named to the Eastern Conference team for Saturday's WNBA All-Star Game in Connecticut.
The league announced the game's reserves today. Smith is the only Shock player on the roster. This will be her seventh All-Star appearance in 11 WNBA seasons. She is averaging 14.7 points and 2.9 assists this season.
Phoenix's Diana Taurasi, serving a two-game suspension after being cited on drunken-driving related charges, will make her fourth All-Star appearance. She is the league’s top scorer at 20.7 points.
Taurasi will be joined on the Western Conference bench by teammate Cappie Pondexter, Tina Thompson (Sparks), Nicky Anosike (Lynx), Charde Houston (Lynx) and Sophia Young (Silver Stars).
The Eastern Conference reserves include Atlanta Dream teammates Sancho Lyttle and Erika de Souza, plus Shameka Christon (Liberty), Jia Perkins (Sky) and Ashja Jones (Sun).
