Shock to be honored at White House

The Detroit Shock, the 2008 WNBA champions, will be honored with a White House ceremony on Monday.

Before the ceremony, the WNBA and the Shock will take part in a United We Serve volunteer project to urge Americans to volunteer to help their communities this summer.

The basketball players will hold a fitness clinic at the Richard England Boys & Girls Club in Washington.

President Barack Obama created United We Serve, which officially got underway June 22 and lasts through Sept. 11, to encourage Americans to help their communities.

Not only will our Detroit Shock be honored as the 2008 WNBA Champions, but they will also give an example of their awesome community work. Congrats to the Shock. Enjoy your day in DC! What can I say, but your Team Mom is proud of you! :wave:

It's great the Shock will be going to the White House. I expect they'll have fun rapping basketball with President Obama.

One would think they'd have done that some time before the current season started, though.

Hopefully, they'll get championship #4 this season and go back next year. :jam2:
