Walsh Bothered By Free Agency 'Hoopla'

Knicks president Donnie Walsh is starting to get annoyed with all the focus on free agency next summer.

LeBron James and the Cavaliers played at Madison Square Garden on Friday night.

"Honestly? All the press and all the hoopla about free agency that comes in July is starting to bother me," Walsh told the New York Times.

"Because there's an innuendo I don't care about the players on this team. And that's simply not true. And this is not a throwaway season, and I never said it was. So no, I don't like it."

James drew more cheers from fans in New York on Friday than any of the Knicks.

Walsh would have more credibility if he hadn't sacrificed last season and this year by cramming his team with expiring contracts.

With the salary cap lowering, LeBron saying he's more interested in a ring than money, other teams preparing to compete for prime free agents, Walsh isn't in the greatest position.

He will undoubtedly get people, I don't know how attractive the Knicks are to prospective premier free agents. IMHO, he would've done better to hire a coach with a penchant for defense, too.

Walsh can save all he wants.

LeBron's going to ball for Jay Z and the Nets, Miami, or Chicago.

I can see D Wade, LeBron, and Bosh making waves in Miami.

LA will take 'em.
