Danny Ainge: Rondo has "got to grow up"

From ESPN Insider:

During a radio interview yesterday, team president Danny Ainge commented that Rajon Rondo has "got to grow up," and "his presence hurt us" against Orlando in the Eastern Conference semifinals and that Rondo wasn't a "max contract player."

Rondo's agent, Bill Duffy wasn't happy when contacted by The Boston Globe.

"I am just surprised that Danny is speaking, even if he considers it constructively, in a public setting [about Rondo]," Duffy said. "I don't think that it's appropriate to say that about one of your top players. Even if it's spoken constructively, I don't think it should be done in public. I don't think [Ainge] would like it if [Celtics managing partner] Wyc [Grousbeck] was talking about him in public.

When asked if Ainge's comments affected Rondo's contract situation, Duffy told the newspaper: "It doesn't sound like a glowing endorsement. You say you love him and then you are critical? You're certainly not recruiting him.

What does pubicly criticizing one of your team's best players accomplish except to alienate him and give him even more of an attitude?

I knew that Boston's success wouldn't last, but I never expected to see the Celts implode like this.

Can't say I feel sorry for Boston neither.

So much for ubuntu.
