Byron Scott Fired

Byron Scott has been fired as head coach of the New Orleans Hornets. The team has underperformed starting the season with a 3-6 record.

A league source told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher that the Hornets will name general manager Jeff Bower as Scott's replacement and hire veteran coach Tim Floyd as his top assistant.

It's unfortunate that Scott has been made the scapegoat for the ownership's drive to slash payroll and not bring on elite talent.

I wonder if Chris Paul will force a trade and who will give Scott another job?

Co-signed.

Byron got a raw deal. After some time in NBA detox, he'll wind up as an assistant somewhere and/or get another head coaching job.

Someone's always getting fired.
Anybody want some Magic Johnson?

When you think of New Orleans struggles compared to their talent, it seems to make no sense. But when you think about who their coach is, it's very surprising to me that New Orleans finds Scott to be the one responsible for their struggles. To me, it starts with their ownership and their lack of desire to spend money necessary to field a great team. They have nice talent, but the players aren't stupid. They know they could have a much better roster around them if their owner cared at all, and personally I think a lot of them have given up on the team.
