Charlotte 88
Detroit 76
BoxscoreInjuries have caught up with Detroit.
In addition to Hamilton, Gordon, and Prince being out, Villanueva is struggling with plantar fasciitis and may sit out some games in the near future.
Rodney Stuckey led the Pistons with 20 points and Will Bynum was the only other Piston to score in double figures with 12 points.
Gerald Wallace paced the Bobcats with 29 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 blocks.
The Bobcats blew the game open, outscoring the Pistons in the second quarter 29-17, when they hit a flurry of triples. Ironically, the Bobcats rank among the worse in the NBA in 3 point shooting.
With Prince, Hamilton, and Gordon accounting for 50 points and on the injured list, the Pistons simply didn't have the firepower to score enough points to win. With under 2 minutes left, the Pistons were in position to bring the lead down to under 10 points, but Austin Daye committed a turnover off of which Charlotte scored to keep the lead at 12 and close the game out.
Of the 3, Gordon appears the likeliest to return the soonest. Whether he will suit up against Toronto on Wednesday isn't likely, though.
Whether Villanueva suits up (and can contribute) is another open question.
The rookies, Kwame Brown, and Chris Wilcox look like they will be getting major minutes in the next few games.
